Every person in the working pedigree, written the way Ancestry asks for them: name, sex, born, died, place, and who they attach to. The arguments, the grades of every single fact and the record citations are on the working pedigree - this page is only what you type. Work down it; each grey block is one Ancestry family.
The quicker way. The same tree exists as a GEDCOM file, verdicts/weily_cullentry_working_tree_20260919.ged in the repository. Ancestry will import it as a separate tree ("Weily of Cullentry (working)") in about a minute, hints start running on it within a day, and you can then copy people into the main tree one at a time as the records confirm them. Typing it in by hand, below, is the alternative - and the right choice for the handful of people who attach to someone already in your main tree.
Three rules before you start
1. Do not invent a date. Where this sheet says abt, bef or bet ... and ..., type it that way; Ancestry accepts all three. 2. Spell the surname as the sheet spells it - Wiley for the Catholic branch, Weily for the Church of Ireland house - and put the other spellings in as alternate names. 3. Write places long, e.g. Cullentry, Rathmolyon, County Meath, Ireland, so Ancestry maps them to the right townland.

The direct line, top to bottom
Seven or eight generations from the 1749 gravestone to Chris's great-grandfather, depending on which arm of the 1802 fork you take. This is the spine: if you enter nothing else, enter these. Under each person is how the link to the next one down is known - which is what you should put in the relationship description in Ancestry, so the tree does not pretend to more than the records give.

This rung is on one arm of the fork below only. He is 'Robt Weily' of the estate map, joint tenant of the 183 acres called Heghlane, and the man the whole Cullentry story runs through - but he is in your direct line only if William C's father was John Wiley (c.1766-1864), who is too young to be John junior's own son and so is placed as Robert's. If instead it was George Wiley (c.1750-1836), George is John junior's son, Robert is a great-uncle, and this rung comes out. Enter him, and mark the link to John 'possible'.
father of John - Possible; no rung here at all on the George arm
Generation 4John or George WileyLikely

A fork, and the only one above William II. William C's father was one of these two 1802 householders. Enter JOHN WILEY, whose 1802 household held a boy William, and mark the relationship 'likely; the alternative is George Wiley' - on that arm the generation above him is Robert, and William C is John junior's great-grandson. If you ever move to GEORGE, delete the Robert rung above: George is John junior's own son, and William C becomes his grandson.

Step 1 Start where your tree already is
William Wiley II is already in the main tree with Alice Aspinall and their six children. Nothing here changes him; check the birth date reads 29 Jan 1857 (or 'bet 1849 and 1857' if you want to leave the two readings open) and move on.

Margaret Flynn remarried in 1854 and stayed at Cullentry. Entering John Flynn makes the 1901 census 'step son' entry, which is what proved this whole branch, readable in the tree.

Step 7 Back up the male line, 1680 to 1802
Four generations above William C. Every father-to-son link here is an inference, not a record: mark each one in the relationship description as the sheet says.

Step 8 The cousins who stayed
The Church of Ireland house at Cullentry and Ballynaskea, and the 1802 households. Optional, and a long job, but these are the people the Irish record hints will fire on.
Two men of the Cullentry and Rathcore families whose parents are not known, so they attach to nobody on the sheets above. Enter them as unconnected people in the tree if you want the Irish record hints to run on them; otherwise leave them here. They are on the working pedigree with the same dates.

Conventions that keep the hints honest
Surnames.Wiley for the Catholic branch and Weily for the Church of Ireland house, with the others as alternate names: the civil index, the census, the Longwood register and the Rathmolyon index write Wiley, Weily, Weilly and Wiely for the same people.
Dates.abt 1796, bef 1839, bet 1830 and 1836 go in exactly as written. Where a person has both a birth and a baptism, enter both - the baptism is the recorded one.
Places, written long:Cullentry, Rathmolyon, County Meath, Ireland; Ballin, Rathmolyon, County Meath, Ireland; Longwood, County Meath, Ireland (the chapel); Moyvalley, County Kildare, Ireland; Clonard, County Meath, Ireland.
Uncertain links. Where the sheet grades a family group Likely or Possible, say so in the relationship description ("likely; inferred from age and the 1802 list, no record names the father"). A generation entered without that note reads as proven a year from now.
Old placeholders to delete. William I and Margaret Flynn carry guessed birth and death years in the old tree (1835, 1890, 1900) that rest on no record at all. Delete them, or mark them placeholders; this sheet gives what the records will carry. The Kilfinane, County Limerick baptism hint for Margaret Flynn is retired: reject it if Ancestry offers it again.
